Meet the Deacons

Dale Bomgardner

Dale has been blessed to be married to his wife, Kim, for over 30 years. Together, they have three grown children—Mike, Chad, and Morgan—and one grandson, Oliver, who brings them endless joy. With a career in the airline industry spanning three decades, Dale finds fulfillment not only in his work but also in spending quality time with family. His hobbies include working with anything mechanical, cooking, and enjoying the great outdoors.

Raised in a Christian home, Dale has a rich heritage of faith, which was nurtured by his parents. He treasures the special memories of attending an annual men’s retreat in the Kiamichi Mountains of Oklahoma with his father, moments that have deeply shaped his faith journey.

Dale is honored to serve the Lord’s Church and looks forward to supporting others in their walk with Christ.

Justin Cates

Justin and his wife Chelsea have been blessed with 3 wonderful children: Jonah, Easton, Olive. They live in Krum and are fortunate to be surrounded by family. He has served as a deacon for over a decade and has a passion for missions and outreach where he currently serves. Chelsea has the gift of creativity and ensures children’s classes and VBS are fun and impactful. In their free time, they love to travel and are adventurous with food both home and abroad. When not traveling you are likely to find Justin playing, coaching, or watching sports and Chelsea baking, reading, or working on a large art project.

Scooter Gierisch

Responsibilities: Website, Weekly Communications, Worship Leader, Online-Streaming, Digital Sign, Scheduling of Worship Assignments

Scooter Gierisch met his wife, Shannon, in the summer of 1985, and married the love of his life in September of 1987, Shannon and Scooter have 2 adult children, Amanda Bordelon-Ross and husband, Connor, Trey Gierisch, wife, Amber, and grandson, Cade, both married to wonderful Christian spouses. The Gierisch family has strong family values that align with their faith. He served as a deacon and Worship Leader at Hilltop Church in Roanoke and Alliance Church (now North Texas)
Scooter is a dedicated member of the North Texas Church of Christ, where he serves as a deacon and Worship Leader, with multiple important responsibilities. As part of his role, Scooter oversees the church's website, manages weekly communications, and leads the congregation in worship. His technical expertise is evident in his oversight of the church's online streaming services and digital sign, ensuring that the church's message reaches both in-person and virtual attendees.
As a worship leader, Scooter plays a significant part in the church's spiritual life, guiding the congregation in praise and devotion. He spent several summers attending the Texas Normal Singing School to improve his role as a Worship Leader, later becoming an instructor and coach at the singing school.
Scooter's involvement as a deacon suggests a deep commitment to his faith and a desire to serve his church community. Deacons are known for their servant leadership and dedication to supporting the spiritual and practical needs of the congregation.
 Scooter is actively involved in his community as the longest-serving mayor of Roanoke, Texas. He serves as Vice President of Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas. His active involvement in various aspects of church life indicates a strong and lived faith that he shares with his church family at North Texas Church of Christ.

Josh Jones

Joshua Jones has grown up in the DFW metroplex he obeyed the gospel at 13 years old. He attended Harding University where he earned a bachelor’s in biochemistry and molecular biology. Josh met his wife, Sarah, at University of St Francis where he was earning his master’s in PA studies. Josh and Sarah currently live in Northlake, they have 3 children Grace, Charlie and Jack Jones. Joshua is active in the outreach and education ministries at North Texas church of Christ. In his spare time Joshua loves spending time with his family and friends. 

Ken Leach

Responsibilities: Building and equipment maintenance. Ministry leader for the Vision, Mission and Spiritual Gifts committees.

Ken and his wife Darlene are high school sweethearts with two sons, four granddaughters and four great grandsons. Ken retired in 2006 after 38 years at Daimler-Chrysler where he served a wide variety of managerial roles leveraging his Master of Science Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.  Ken and Darlene moved to Texas in 2009 to be closer to family.  He was baptized in 2015.
